Arsenal beats Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace by a 4-1 score in their Premier League encounter on 20th of January. It was Gunners’ first win after three successive winless games, which helped them gain crucial points and place themselves below 5th placed Tottenham by 2 points.
Nacho Monreal opened the score from a header in the 6th minute. The Gunners continued to press scoring another goal from Alex Iwobi’s shot four minutes afterwards. Laurent Koscielny tripled the score only three minutes after, to give Arsenal a strong lead.
It became an alarming sign for Palace as Alexandre Lacazette scored the fourth goal in the 22nd minute. However, after that, they strengthened their defence, hardly allowing any of Gunners’ players through. They managed to maintain the defence, but it was already too late for them to hope for a better outcome after Luka Milivojevic scored a consolation goal in the 78th minute.
Palace’s poor defence in the first half has ruined their whole game, even if they managed to deflect all of the incoming efforts in the second half. They are now in an uncomfortable situation as Yohan Cabaye has suffered an injury before the final whistle. More players including Scott Dann and Andros Townsend need to recover during the next games. They are now 13th in the league table, on a point level with Bournemouth, who stay above.
