Arsenal play a draw against Chelsea in the Premier League

It was a stunning encounter as Arsenal managed to gain a draw against the league Champions, Chelsea ending the match by a 2-2 score on third of January.

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere opened the score in the 63rd minute, to give hosts finally the lead after failed efforts of Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez. However, after four minutes Eden Hazard equalized successfully from a penalty.

Gunners’ boss, Arsene Wenger criticized the referee, calling that he could give 10 penalties like that.

Marcos Alonso scored a late goal from Davide Zappacosta’s cross, almost securing three points for Chelsea.

Both teams struggled hard, with more shots in the final minutes, which were heroically saved by both keepers, Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech.

Hector Bellerin fired a spectacular half-volley in the injury time extending Gunners’ score and offering them one point.

It was an intense encounter, with many surprises and spectacular moments that drove the sides into a draw. Wilshere, who previously scored in 2015, produced a brilliant shot, to score past Courtois from eighth yards.

Chelsea played more consistent, with a dominant possession and more shots on target. The opener should have been theirs, with Alvaro Morata’s performance, who could have scored in his three one-on-one opportunities.  However, Cech ensured some brilliant saves, to give more headaches to the visitors.

Arsenal stays in the 6th place in the league table with 39 points, while Chelsea is behind Manchester United by one point, with 46.
