Celtic suffers a dramatic defeat from Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League
Celtic lost to Paris Saint Germain by a 7-1 score in the Champions’ League Group B at Parc de Princes.
Moussa Dembele opened the score in the first minute, and it seemed that the team could do more. However, the horror began with world’s most expensive player’s, Neymar’s, equaliser. Afterwards, he went for the second one in the 22nd minute. Edinson Cavani scored the third one shortly afterwards. Kylian Mbappe sealed the score for the first half with his effort in the 35th minute.
In the second half, Marco Verratti scored the fifth goal from the edge in the 75th minute. Celtic held as they could, but their resistance was short-lived as Cavani went for another one four minutes afterwards. Dani Alves stepped seconds afterwards, to seal the score with a powerful long-ranged shot.
Celtic had it tough, and when Mikael Lustig was sent off in the 12th minute due to injury, it signalled their misfortune. Though they lost by such a score, they can still qualify for the Europa League, if they manage to keep Anderlecht out of the sight, who stay on the bottom with five from five defeats.
PSG has previously won by a 5-0 score in the first encounter against Celtic, and now they have already 24 goals in only five matches, which is a record in this stage of the Champions League.
