Celtic lose to Bayern Munich in Champions League

Bayern Munich won against Celtic in the Champions’ League Group B by a 1-2 score on 31st of October.

Bayern opened the score in the 22nd minute from Kingsley’s Coman’s shot. The scoreline remained unchanged until the mid of the second half.

Callum McGregor equalised the score in the 74th minute, but Celtic’s ambitions were thwarted by a quick comeback that consisted of Javi Martinez’ header three minutes afterwards.

Although Bayern successfully ended this encounter, their performance was paler than their usual one. However, Celtic showed greater resilience and a more consistent attitude.

Celtic had the drive, but Bayern’s side exceeded in accuracy, as they scored from half of their shots on target. The equaliser was Celtic’s best effort in this match as James Forrest created the chance for McGregor to time-in perfectly and nail the opening. Their defeat looked inevitable after Martinez succeeded with his effort.

Celtic are third in the Group B table with three points, and although they won’t be able to reach the top two positions, they are superior to Anderlecht, which could still gain them the chance to take part in the knockout stages of the Europa League. Paris St-Germain stays on the top with 12 points with a gap of three to their follow-ups, Bayern.
