Chelsea defeats Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Chelsea beat Crystal Palace by a 2-1 score in their Premier League match on 10th of March. Chelsea remains fifth in the Premier League table, but they could still advance to the fourth as there is only a 2-point gap between them and Tottenham.

Willian opened the score for the Blues in the 25th minute. The defender, Martin Kelly had the ball deflected right into the left side of the keeper, which doubled the score for Chelsea.

In the 90th minute, Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt scored one back, giving hopes to the home side for a draw, but Chelsea held on to finish victoriously.

Roy Hodgson’s 4-4-2 formation became a headache again. Deploying the second central striker, their previous games against Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham ended in a disaster. This time wasn’t different, and Antonio Conte knew how to use it for his convenience.

Chelsea still dominated with a 62% possession, and even though the visitors threatened in the final minutes, the Blues played their part well.

Conte’s side had it harsh since the previous match against Manchester City, where they played without a centre-forward. However, as Olivier Giroud returned back into the game, the team has visibly regained a relevant part.

Crystal Palace remains in the bottom three, with all the hopes lying in the upcoming matches for a successful qualification of the next Premier League’s season.
