Chelsea lose to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League

Bournemouth gained an astonishing win against the reigning champions, Chelsea on 31st of January. It has become one of the most prominent results for Burnley, as they beat the hosts by a 0-3 score.

The main action took place in the second half. Until then the stats were almost even, however, Chelsea was still in dominance. Their first mistake occurred shortly after the break as Callum Wilson fired the opener. Not long afterwards, Junior Stanislas doubled the score and Nathan Ake capitalised to give Cherries the win.

Bournemouth haven’t won a game since their previous away match at Newcastle, which dates back to November. The opener came as Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayako made a mistake and lost the possession of the ball, that allowed Wilson to score.

The defeat for Chelsea became the heaviest for Antonio Conte, who has been in charge for the club over two years.

Shortly before the game the move of Arsenal’s striker, Olivier Giroud, was completed to Chelsea, and Michy Batshuayi joined Borussia Dortumund on a loan until the end of this season. Giroud didn’t manage to play in this game and Conte didn’t have many choices with injured Alvaro Morata.

Conte went with Pedro, Eden Hazard and Ross Barkley in front, but it was a unsucesfull combination as they didn’t manage to score single shot on target in the first half. A more intense play was observed in the second half, but the lack of a strong front was evident.
