Manchester City defeats Swansea City in the Premier League
Manchester City has thrashed Swansea by a 5-0 score on 22nd of April.
David Silva fired the opener in the 12 minute from Raheem Sterling’s pass. The winger doubled the score four minutes afterwards.
Swansea strengthened their defence during the first half, but it lasted until Kevin de Bruyne launched a 25-yard shot past the visitors’ keeper in the 54th minute.
Bernardo Silva scored the fourth goal after Gabriel Jesus failed upon a penalty opportunity. However, Jesus managed to score few moments before the final whistle, to seal the score for City.
Swansea is going through a difficult time, as they have already ended their fifth successive defeat. They are by four points above relegation.
They still have four games to play, with their next encounter against the champions, Chelsea. It might sound not too reassuring for Swans, however, they would have chances to gain some points in the upcoming games against Stoke and Southampton.
City’s manager, Pep Guardiola commented that their race is not over. His primary goal is to score records after they got the title. They are now chasing to score most goals and gain most wins in a season. The hosts have now 90 points in the Premier League table. No team has ever gained 100 points in a single league season, and Guardiola surely intents to make City the first one. They still have four games ahead, and for reaching their goal, they would need at least three wins and one draw.
Next, City will challenge West Ham on their turf on 29th of April.
