Crystal Palace defeats Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League

Crystal Palace beat Brighton & Hove Albion by a 3-2 score on 14th of April. They are now six points above relegation zone which is seen as an achievement following their start of the season with seven successive defeats.

The opener came in the fifth minute from Wilfried Zaha. James Tomkins doubled the score 10 minutes afterwards to give Palace a prosperous lead.

However, Brighton cut the deficit four minutes after, as Glenn Murray scored against the hosts. Shortly afterwards, Zaha returned his team’s 2-goal lead, after capitalizing against Brighton’s poor defence. The visitors came back with an answer and brought it to 3-2 after Jose Izquierdo scored 10 minutes before the break.

Palace started aggressively, advancing with a cruel attacking threat. In the second half, Brighton began to put more pressure. In the extra time, Murray had a chance to score firing directly against Wayne Hennessey, but the defence played their role brilliantly to leave Palace with a win.

Brighton’s loss might emerge a big problem. While Palace is six points above relegation, the visitors have just a one-point advantage. On fourth of March, they could beat Arsenal, but they still have five games to go, and all of their opponents are in the top of the league. They will have to show much better games in their next encounters, to accomplish a league survival.
