Liverpool defeats Stoke City in the Premier League

Liverpool beat Stoke City by a 3-0 score in the Premier League match on 29th of November.

Sadio Mane opened the score from Joe Gamez’s cross in the 17th minute. Stoke called for a fair decision, as the ball has crossed the byline before Mane made his shot. After more replays, it was impossible to tell if it was out or not, and the referee Martin Atkinson decided to leave the decision as it was.

However, the most frustrating moment for Mark Hughes’ team was when Liverpool’s keeper Simon Mignolet challenged Mame Biram Diouf. He received a yellow card, but the Potters claimed that he should have been sent off instead.

After an intense encounter in the second half, where Stoke also amplified their pressure, Mohamed Salah managed to double the score in the 77th minute. He sealed the score five minutes afterwards with another shot, giving a comfortable victory to the Reds.

The Potters saw some highly unpleasant moments in the first half, and as they rushed in the second, it didn’t offer them much. For Reds’ boss, Jurgen Klopp, it was less delight than pleasure, as his players defended with much struggle in the second half.

Liverpool moves up to the 5th position in the league table, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and two points below Arsenal. For Stoke, it is a little more complicated, as they reside on the 16th spot, three points above relegation.
