Liverpool thrashes Arsenal in the Premier League

Arsenal was utterly defeated by Liverpool at Anfield on 27th of August. It was one of the most critical performances the Gunners have shown so far, and losing by a 4-0 score, has triggered new waves of criticism towards their boss, Arsene Wenger.

The opener was fired by Roberto Firmino in the 17th minute giving Liverpool an early lead. Before the break, there could be seen an invigorating performance from Sadio Mane, who netted the ball highlighting the Reds discipline, drive, and passion, opposed to what could be seen from their opponents.

Mohamed Salah scored the third one after the break, exposing Arsenal’s weakness more after numerous attempts. Daniel Sturridge sealed the score after firing the ball from far.

Gunners’ signing of this summer, Alexandre Lacazette, was left on the bench for most of the game. He stepped out in the second half, but couldn’t do much. Wenger decided to keep him out of this game, though his decision remains unjustified after such a performance. Not only Lacazette but also their second signing, Sead Kolosinac was left to watch his teammates play. Maybe Wenger wanted to demonstrate that his first choice players, could give Liverpool a tough challenge, but what could be witnessed at Anfield, was totally the opposite.

Liverpool’s boss, Jurgen Klopp, also decided to leave out one of his usual players – the goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. As it were a risky decision against Arsenal, releasing the young German player, Loris Karious, he managed after all to keep a clean sheet.

Arsenal has now lost 2 of 3 Premier League games and opposed to the Reds, who are successfully battling their way through, Wenger has to do immediately something for avoiding a shameful relegation.
