Manchester City defeats Bristol City in the EFL Cup

After an intense play, Manchester City managed to progress into the finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Bristol in the second-leg by a 3-2 score on 23rd of January. City won over Bristol with a total score of 3-5.

Leroy sane fired the opener shortly before the break to give City the lead. Sergio Aguero doubled it in the extra minutes of the first half, to give City a decent lead.

Bristol’s Marlon Pack launched one back in the second half from a header. Aden Flint equalised the score in the stoppage time, to threaten City for extra rounds. However, Kevin de Bruyne ensured that his team will progress into the finals with a last-second goal.

Pep Guardiola chose a lighter formation in their previous encounter, to rest some of his best players. However, after the Robins’ showed such impressive intent and resilience, he gave them the desired challenge in this game.

It might seem that the game was close to City’s disruption, at least for another half an hour, but their performance and possession has shown that they were far more superior than their opponents. Even with Robins’ threats at the end, City became the most plausible contender to progress into the finals.  They will face Arsenal next in the finals of the EFL Cup on 25th of February.
