Manchester City defeats Watford in the Premier League

The league leaders, Manchester City extended their unbeaten run to 18 by beating Watford by a 3-1 score on 2nd of January.

Raheem Sterling fired mercilessly the opener inside the first minute of the match from Leroy Sane’s delivery, which became the quickest of this Premier League season.

After several minutes, Kevin de Bruyne launched the ball against the visitors’ side, and Christian Kabasele tried to divert it, but he was short on luck, as it went inside his own net.

Sergio Aguero slotted the third goal in the second half to give City a confident lead.

Watford didn’t give up even under the harsh hosts’ pressure, managing to score one back from Andre Gray’s effort in the late game.

City’s boss, Pep Guardiola, commented that the fortunate run might end soon for his players, who might end up being too exhausted in the upcoming games.

Gabriel Jesus and David Silva might be missing for at least one month, and while City still has a large number of reserves, they will have to stay consistent, to maintain their record.

Watford has been slowly sliding down in this season staying on the 10th place in the league table. They were out of the game already before the first minute, when Sterling scored the opener. Gray found an unexpected opening and managed to trick the hosts, however, the team knew that it was very unlikely that they would extend their score in the remaining minutes.
