Manchester City loses to Manchester United in the Premier League

Manchester City lost to Manchester United by a 2-3 score on 7th of April. The Premier League leaders, City, could have secured the title if they won this match. However, after a surprising comeback from United, their title wait extends.

In the first half, City scored the opener from Vincent Kompany’s shot in the 25th minute. Five minutes afterwards, Ilkay Gudogan extended the lead with his powerful finish.

The first half ended by a 2-0 score, and City had the upper hand, but the unexpected turnaround ruined their plans. Earlier, Raheem Sterling tried to fire twice against the opponent’s keeper, but the United fans remained in suspense, as his efforts went over the bar.

However, in the second half, Paul Pogba rallied launching two goals within two minutes. United’s efforts paid as Chris Smalling finished with his volley in the 69th minute.

In the final minutes, the City players went all out fiercely pressuring United. However, Jose Mourinho’s side held on to gain a relevant win.

Ashley Young had a dangerous challenge inside the line on City’s Sergio Aguero, which was the climax of hosts’ furious attacks. The referee, Martin Atkinson ignored the situation, which became a disagreement point for City’s fans.

After a brilliant start, City’s defence has collapsed and the luck wasn’t on their side anymore.
City will have the chance to clinch the title in their next match against Tottenham on 14th of April, while United will battle against West Brom to maintain their progress on 15th.
