Manchester United 3-2 Victory Against Newcastle
Manchester United makes a spectacular comeback in the Premier League with their 3-2 victory against Newcastle on September 6th. Following an anticlimactic start for the reds and what seemed to be bad news for Jose Mourinho’s career, United picked up after the break, with Mata and Martial scoring within minutes from one another, and finally Sanchez sealing the score to 3-2.
According to several reports, the decision of getting rid of Mourinho was taken way before the game, and regardless of the outcome. However, after yesterday’s win, it seems that Mourinho still has the support of the club’s hierarchy, despite a season of controversial decisions and transfers for United.
The hosts managed to score twice in the first half, with Kenedy in the 7th minute followed closely by Yoshinori Muto in the 10th. Manchester showed a sloppy defensive in the first half, probably influenced by the tense atmosphere behind the scenes of the club. Rashford’s attempt was perhaps the Reds’ only chance to score in the first half, but it wasn’t until Mourinho Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini off the bench in the second half that United made the real comeback.
United’s first goal was Mata’s free-kick only 20 minutes before the end of the match, closely followed by Martial’s in the 76th minute. The outcome looked like a draw for another 15 minutes, before Sanchez buried the final goal in the last minute of normal time, sealing the score to 3-2.
