Manchester United vs Chelsea Ends in 2-2 Draw
Manchester United vs Chelsea ended in anticlimactic 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, pushing both teams down in the Premier League table and bringing Guardiola’s City back to the summit, with 23 points.
United manager Jose Mourinho got involved in a heated touchline bust-up after Ross Barkley’s equalizer in the 96th minute, which became the most controversial event of the match. Mourinho was excited to see United gain the upper hand against his former club, but was faced with Barkley’s goal that evened out the score, ending the match in a draw.
Mourihno’s understandable disappointment was caught on camera as the victory was snatched from his side in the dying minutes. However, what stirred him up even more was Chelsea technical assistant Marco Ianni celebrating and pumping fists in his direction. Mourinho had to be held down by several United staff members as he was about to get down the tunnel at Ianni.
Despite the controversial behaviour of their manager, United managed to put on an impressive display, particularly when it comes to Anthony Martial, who scored both goals for his side that night. The first United goal came in the 55th minute, closely followed by a seemingly low effort shot in the 73rd. The Blues showed great spirit as well, managing to maintain a clean start since the beginning of the League.
