Max Verstappen wins the Malaysian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen gained an impressive victory, which became his first one in this year’s Grand Prix in Sepang. He was confidently in control of the whole race, getting ahead of Valtteri Bottas in the first laps, after which he managed to overdrive Lewis Hamilton in the fourth. After that, Verstappen built a decent lead, which lasted until the end of the race.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finished on the second extending his lead in the competition to 34 points ahead of the Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Vettel from the other side had it tough in this round starting from the back of the grid. However, he managed to gain an impressive result finishing fourth after some problems caused by the engine.

Verstappen’s teammate, Daniel Ricciardo managed to finish third. In the ending laps, Vettel was tailing Ricciardo, but it was too much for the German after experiencing issues with the car. In the last three laps, he was right behind the Red Bull driver trying to catch the moment to fend him off, but he couldn’t succeed.

Valtteri Bottas finished fifth, lowering his chances for a title hope. Hamilton’s teammate was showing some impressive results, especially with his win in the Austrian Grand Prix, but since then, his performance has been lacking something.

Force India’s Sergio Perez finished sixth and McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne seventh. In the early laps Vandoorne was confidently racing ahead in the fifth place, but after an early pit stop, he got back where he started. His teammate, Fernando Alonso finished 10th and Vettel’s teammate, Kimi Raikkonen ran out of luck this time, as he retired before the start due to lack of power.

The racers will take next the legendary Suzuka track in the Japanese Grand Prix, where new interesting challenges await.
