Spain plays a draw against Switzerland in a friendly match

Spain ended their match against Switzerland with a 1-1 score in the warmup game before the World Cup.
Alvaro Odriozola scored a 20-yard opener to give the Spanish side the lead in the 29th minute. However, the Swiss equalized from Ricardo Rodriguez’ shot after the break.

The Spanish side has managed to maintain an unbeaten record in the international matches under their new manager, Julen Lopetegui. He came as a replacement to Vicente del Bosque in 2016 and since then he gained 13 wins and six draws.

Switzerland has gone a long time second in the international groups. Previously they defeated Spain in Durban in the World Cup opening game of 2010.

Switzerland took the Spanish side by surprise in the second half. Spain was still pressuring in the late game, however, their last credible effort came with Nacho Fernandez’ shot when he hit the post in the final minutes.

The Spanish side dominated through the match, but there was more danger when the Swiss took control over longer periods. The Spanish managed to prevent that, however, as they loosened the grip in the second half, their opponents capitalised.
Spain will face Tunisia on 9th of June, while Switzerland will play against Japan on 8th.
