Swansea City defeats Burnley in the Premier League

Burnley suffered a frustrating defeat as Swansea beat them by a 1-0 score on 10th of February.

The visitors were more likely to win as both sides led a goalless 80-minute period, until the hosts made their move. Ki Sung-yueng finished in the late minutes with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area to give Swans the victory.

While Burnley still hasn’t won a game in this year, Swansea extended their unbeaten run to nine games. Their performance has improved since the arrival of their new manager, Carlos Carvalhal. Since he took over the club in December, the Swans lost only one game.

One of their greatest events has been the joining of the forward Andre Ayew, who inspired the team to finish victoriously. As he came on the field, Swansea started to dominate more the penalty area giving them more chances to attack. His brother, Jordan Ayew launched a shot in the second half to be denied by the keeper, Nick Pope, however it stimulated the hosts to strengthen the pressure.

Burnley had it lately more difficult. In contrast to Swansea, they didn’t win a game in the past nine games, and their most remarkable result became the draw against Manchester City. They seemed to be in shape to win this round, but their efforts were limited to long-range shots. Since Swansea became livelier in the second half, Burnley couldn’t keep up, which lead to their fatal mistake.

Burnley stay seventh in the Premier League table, while Swansea have moved up to 15th.
